Volunteer
The NWA Center for Equality has no paid staff, so its influence and effectiveness is only as strong as its volunteer support. Volunteer opportunities include:
- Serving on Teams and the Board of Directors
- Coordinating events
- Facilitating programs or services
- Participating in community service projects
- And so much more!
Three standing teams directly execute the mission of the Center. These activities are the reason we exist:
Advocacy - Advocate for the community by organizing actions that promote awareness of the cause of equality or seek real and specific change.
Program Management - Manage the ongoing efforts to support people by addressing the specific needs of the community.
Events Planning -
Coordinate the successful execution of major periodic events and
special (one-time) opportunities to draw the community together.
Five standing teams provide the operational support to the other three. These are what make it possible to accomplish our mission:
Budget & Accounting- Oversees general accounting, manages cash flow, and develops the annual operations budget.
Fundraising & Development - Recruits donors, plans fundraising efforts, manages donor relations, and provides grant writing support.
Communications & Public Relations -
Develops the center’s image and shares the efforts to achieve the
Center’s mission through member correspondence, media relations, and an
online presence.
Operations & Management
- Maintains accountability for all Center activities to the Center’s
mission statement and bylaws by developing Standard Operating Procedures
and best practices. Ensures effective use of center resources.
Facilities & Personnel -
Acts as stewards of all physical and human resources. Responsible for
facilities access, security, and inventory control. Manages
staff/volunteer scheduling.
Other ad-hoc teams may be formed for specific purposes as needed.
Elections - Member committee that vets candidates and operates election in accordance with Center bylaws.
